xmas came and gone, new year came and gone, and now chinese new year came and gone...
i... wished friends merry xmas in the digital form, hopefully the bits and bytes have gone through the global communication network and ended up in the little envelope symbol in the cell phone as "new text message"...
i... wanted to wish friends happy new year... but time was short and the packing list was long... so the happy new year was sent out in brain wave, gone through the crazy bizarre cognitive tofu mush and hopefully ended up in the hearts as a sweet dream...
packing list... things to pack for the chilly winter cold... in tokyo... something that i grew foreign to after living in the land of summer for the past 337 days...

this new year, new year 2009, came with freezing wind and a shivering body next to me in a crowd of thousands at a temple in the city of tokyo. we counted down the last seconds of 2008 14hrs ahead of the people back home.
tokyo is a fun place to be... perhaps it's only fun because it's foreign... nonetheless it is still a fun city. we visited zojoji, meiji shrine and sensoji (all were packed with worshipers want to make prayers for the new year). we ate at roppongi hill, tsukiji, ueno station and we snacked at takeshita-dori, jiyugaoka... japanese do know their way to satisfy the taste buds... no complains on any of the food that went in our stomach... not even the kantoni from 7 eleven.
the highlight of the trip is on our last day in tokyo; we visited the ghibli museum. i am a big fan of miyazaki hayao and seeing some of the original manuscripts from his animes is like a dream. unfortunately photography is prohibited inside the museum so we can only share the exterior photos of the museum here.
life after new year 2009 is hectic... i worked 10 days straight.. no time to hold on to the dreams from tokyo and pull into the reality of life. the rest of jan was no piece of cake until the week of cny.
now cny is coming to an end and the reality of work is coming tomorrow. i should say sayounara now and try make the most out of my remaining vacation.

I love the Japan photos! Hadn't seen those last time we spoke. Very cool. Am jealous of all the good food you must have eaten there... Yum.
