Today is Taiwan's Father's Day and I think its appropriate to write a post for my dad today.

This Father's Day my dad received a Model Father recognition and was on the newspaper today!

since i see my parents more often now than i used to, it gets me wondering sometimes if i was in their shoes then would i have made the same decision and done what they have done for us.

would i have send the kids to the other side world just so they can have better education/life/opportunities than i did?
would i have split up the family and to have the wife to be with the kids and to take care of them?
would i have the courage to sacrifice my happiness for the kids?
and more importantly, would i be able to live apart from my other half for such a long time?

i don't think i could have and would have done it. i, at the present time, am a much more selfish person.

it was hard for me to appreciate what my parents had done for us when i was much younger. but as i get to live alone and to maintain a long-distance relationship, it really made me appreciate the sacrifice they made, especially dad. it made me realize how fortunate i am to have such wonderful parents.
